I agree with everything Carrot Patch Games said below: there was something really poignant about its simplicity and aesthetics, the cruelty of the fairy-tale atmosphere was great and def reminiscent of RPG Maker horror games/The Witch’s House in its twist! It was really touching, thank you for making it!
OHHHHH I REALLY LOVED THIS GAME!! There's something incredibly beautiful and poignant about it, from the music, to the art style, to the story itself. I somehow was getting some vibes from games likes The Witch's House and stuff a bit. Just incredibly lovely!
Really great choices for the music! There was a sort of calming nostalgic tone to them tinged with mystery. My favorite track was the one that played during the black-and-white scenes—absolutely perfect! It gave those scenes such a creepy-cute vibe. And the artwork itself for those scenes was so superb! From the very first one with the cracking glass, to the one of Allein with the creepy red stain—I loved all of them! They were the perfect little creepy nostalgic interludes interlaced amongst the story.
I loved the BGs and how... subtle they were? For lack of a better word? Like they did truly feel like they had this kind of surreal wash of nostalgia over them, which fit wonderfully with the theme of memories and feelings of loss. And the sprites were absolutely gorgeous! I loved the design of all the characters, especially Allein hehe 🤭💕
I felt like the story was really well-done. It starts out right in the middle of things, leaving us (and Joan!) wondering what's going on, then gradually revealing more and more of the story through the witch's memory. I felt like that was really effective in setting up the story. AND THEN THE TWIST!! I feel like a part of me knew that something to that effect was coming but I didn't know exactly what it would be, so that was a great job in setting up enough foreshadowing while not giving everything away until just the right moment. It took me two guesses to guess the name! Admittedly, I went on Google and typed in "names that have to do with the sea" hehe perhaps otherwise I wouldn't have gotten it as I didn't even know that name had anything to do with the sea originally LOL But I think it's definitely guessable with the given hints and if people do some research!
Overall, just really lovely! A poignant little game with a well-done story and visuals and great characters! I loved it a lot!! 💕
This was beautiful :3 I adore the character designs and all of the art! I especially love those black and white CGs <3 They're absolutely stunning! I have a thing for black and white, as you can probably tell from my avatar, haha. But they just go so well with those fragments of the story and make it all the more fairytale-like ^-^
I felt like such an idiot with guessing the name because I thought I had figured it out, but I got the bad end x3 So then I was really confused. I went to the game page, saw the guide you had put (thank you so much for making that, by the way) and I was like, wait... and I looked it up online to double check cos going by your hint, I thought I got it right the first time. Turns out I put the wrong spelling >.< haha. It was fine though cos I made a save right before typing it in :3
Finally got good ending thanks to your walkthrough hehe. Well, personally it was since I'm not familiar with the name lol But I love the ending. A good plot twist plus a hot demon~ <3
I find finding the name a little too hard. maybe give us options to pick from. I know NOTHING about the sea so the hints help none at all for people like me.
If you're still curious, maybe you can check the spoiler post on devlog. The name is not necessarily about the sea. And if you want to ask Mr. Google, with the hint, the name will appear on the featured snippets. It's not an uncommon name, actually. But yeah, it is hard if you don't know.

About the name... googling indeed helps. Glad you can find the right one with a few guesses!

Glad to hear you enjoy it! And thank goodness the guide is helpful. I wasn't sure whether I should put it up or not at first.
I wish there were more hints. Or maybe I'm just too dumb :>
Anyway, I love it! The writing and the art is superb. ;)
Thank you!
Hmm... is it too hard?
