Awhh, this is indeed a bittersweet story! I wish they can both get their happy ending!! Loved the story nonetheless<3

Loved the character, neat story, pretty beach, and nice music.

Aa reading the postmortem, I wonder if the man is still out there searching... It's as if this VN is this man's unsent letter to his mermaid... I hope he'll find his solace one day. <3

Beautiful and melancholy writing by Altila. I enjoyed it a lot, thank you for making this!

Konaa thank you too for playing and commenting!

I hope he will, one day!

This was a really beautiful and bittersweet game... I started to understand the true meaning behind it while playing, and then got the full picture after I was finished and also read your devlog for more of the details. Ahhh... how touching yet sad... 😢

What a poignant subject to approach for this little game and a way to bring some attention to some of those disasters and the people they affected.

I really enjoyed the simplicity of this. The art was so warm and soft, coupled with the melancholic music. I felt for a bit that I was standing there on the seashore myself reminiscing about my own bittersweet memories... even if they can never be the same. Just a really lovely and touching experience 💕

Aaa thank you for playing and your comment!

Glad you enjoy the game!

Sometimes simplicity is nice

Thank you for playing! And happy birthday

thank you

Oh, this was a lovely game! I'll admit the game completely fooled me, and I failed to see the bigger allegory (which I should have considering the dates). And it made it all the more heartbreaking: more than a man looking for the love of his life, I see the protagonist as the mourning of a whole country for the part of its citizens who disappeared during those disasters. This is a very powerful game, and the metaphor was truly perfect.

Also, I really loved the art! The CG was absolutely GORGEOUS (especially since you tackled what I call the "cursed angle", because I've noticed most artists fail to draw in this angle, but you really didan amazing job), with the right amount of melancholy and nostalgy. The BG of the CG was very beautiful too! I also appreciated the slight alterations of the Ren'Py default GUI: somehow, your changes make it look a bit more retro (in a good way), accompanying the theme of memory. And for the music track, well, I used it in a recent game of mine, so I agree, it's a banger, and the right amount of love and yet melancholy - it really fitted the game!

Congrats on making it!

Thank you for playing!!

Glad you enjoy the game! A part of me wants people to get it while another part wants people to be fooled because that means whatever I tried to pull in this game is working. I'm also surprised at how a slight alteration of the GUI can result in different vibe

love the art and music choice so fitting !

Thanks for playing!

Ah, I stumbled upon this and was instantly curious, because I am quite obsessed with the story of the little mermaid...and aaahhhhh....

this is really just a soft and touching story...and how lovely...that the MC had such a great love for the beloved mermaid, that he would never lose hope of finding them, that he would still find them, for their sake, should they return one day...

and wow, that persistence, that beautiful persistence is just so touching. Gosh you can't imagine how I'm crying right now. It's really quite beautiful.

edit:

And aaahhh!! forgot to say, but the writing is also so touching, I could definitely feel the longing for the mermaid with the words. And it was also just so bittersweet to realize what the dates meant --- and yet also so comforting to see that no matter how much time has passed, there are still some who continue to remember those swept away, refusing to forget the cherished memory of them.

Aaaahh! Thank you for playing and for your kind comment ; ;

Glad you like the game
